MR. RIGHT? OR MR. RIGHT NOW?

Here's an unprecedented tale shared by a local venue. They related that a Bride booked their property for her Wedding, telling them she'd fallen in love with the beauty of the location. Her Special Day was in a year, she signed a contract on the spot and wrote out a deposit check to "save the date."

In six months the Bride returned to tell the venue she and the Groom had broken up. The venue, having become fond of the young woman, told her they were sad she wasn't going to be married at their property. She replied, "Oh, I'm going to be married here alright. You just hold the date!" True to her word, she returned six months later at the appointed hour - with a new Groom in tow - and walked down to the aisle to be married at the venue of her dreams.

TEMECULA VALLEY WEDDING PROFESSIONALS
Location, Location, Location!
Upcountry Temecula

There are three "Upcountry's" in the Hawaiian Islands and during our years there, we had the pleasure of living in two of them - Lana'i City on Lana'i, and Kula on Maui. (The 3rd upcountry is on the Big Island). With each, the elevation's about 3,000', with the climate being remarkably similar to that of The SoCal and the views below of the tropical valleys and seas are astonishing!

During those days, we belonged to the Maui Wedding Association and the group's cut-above meetings were those held in the Upcountry.

Fast-forward to this month - at the April TVWP meeting at RK Green Studios - we were introduced to Upcountry Temecula. (We didn't even know it existed). And we were blown away!

Much of the success of the meeting goes to the co-hosts: the ever-exuberant Charlene Keys of the TVWP and the more-exuberant-than-thou, Randy Green of RK Green Studios. Randy gave an illuminating talk on photography, assisted by Glen Currie, of Glenn Currie Photography. Volker Lutz, of Vineyard Gourmet Catering, presented his as-always delightful morsels, while Carol Lee, of Tasteful Cakes, tantalized us with copious confections. Always the English gentleman, DJ Mark Davies, of Sterling Productions, played some cool ABBA and Bill Withers, while Annette LaRocque, of Murrieta VIP Florist, draped each table with gorgeous, snow-white phalaenopsis orchids. Enjoy an armchair view of the meeting!

During the course of the afternoon we also spotted Karon Cartwright, of Ponte Winery and Su-Lin Sutherland, of Wilson Creek Winery. (Once upon a time they worked together in the Wedding department at Pala Mesa Resort). Melissa Haines and Lisa Myers of RK Green Studios totally worked the room with their cameras. Ashley Video's miniature "I-Do Cams" were a big hit as they were placed on each table for the group to play with. Mia Santana, of Bella Mia Foto, and Ken Bennett, of Video Adventures, took the bait and videoed away throughout the afternoon. We enjoyed sharing a lunch table with Cindy Davis of Bella Vista Events, and spyed at adjoining tables Julie Galyan, of San Diego Style Weddings and Officiant, Janet Westall.

Take our word for it, if you hear of future TVWP meetings being hosted at RK Green Studios - run, don't walk! Get-thee-there!

Wine Is For Girls

The Ides of March found Temecula Valley's adventuresome Wine Wenches road-tripping for a wine-biz-related getaway to the Santa Ynez wine country. Yeah, yeah, fun-biz, too, but there was a lot of [air quotes] "wine research" being conducted in the magnificent Rancho Merona Estate they rented. Peggy Evans, Cori Cocca & Darla O'Leary of the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, Denise Sutterfield of Girl Friday Creations, Lynn Barnes of Ponte Winery, Donna Craig of Callaway Winery and long-time pal, Diane Chain high-geared-it northward for a week dedicated to wine, women and song. Also slated to attend was Karon Cartwright, of Ponte Winery, but a variety of matters at the Winery were in need of attention, requiring her to stay home and take a pass on the Central Coast excursion.

Lorimar Winery has so many events on the horizon, it's a challenge to decide which to feature. This time around, continuing with our All Wine Women / All The Time theme, we're going to focus on their Lorimar Diva Club. As the name indicates, the endeavor's for the ladies of Temecula Valley. And beyond. Hosted at the Winery's Old Town Temecula tasting room on Fridays - 1:00 to 4:00 - the fairer sex are offered flights of Lorimar's wines at $5 per tasting.

Ladies continuing to participate in the Diva Club can plan on receiving a signed bottle of Lorimar wine. Beyond that, wine discounts for Diva Members - 10% off bottles of wines / 25% off cases of wine / 40% off Lorimar Wine Club membership.

Ms. Lovato's assembled a team of two women photographers and two women stylists to provide makeup, hair and photos for coteries of four or more women in the comfort of their own home. (Wouldn't we like to be a fly on the wall at one of those sessions!).

TEMECULA VALLEY WEDDING PROFESSIONALS
April Meeting

Want to have some fun? We mean a serious good time? Then we suggest you attend the April meeting of the Temecula Valley Wedding Professionals, hosted by Randy Green at his RK Green Studios in Wine Country.

We had the privilege of touring this property when Randy first purchased it and it's absolutely beautiful! Just the sort of countryside, wild-oak piece of land one dreams about spending hang-time close by the wineries.

Come enjoy Randy's presentation, "Hot Tips From Your Wedding Photographer." (The gentleman knows of what he speaks).

ORFILA VINEYARDS
Bridal Show
April 11, 2010
Sunday 12 - 4

Over the years the CAKE staff's had the pleasure of attending several Weddings at Orfila Winery and the location is one of North County San Diego's hidden gems! Orfila has the unique distinction of being freeway close (only 2 miles from I-15), near the hotels and restaurants of Escondido, just up the road from the internationally renowned Wild Animal Park, and yet with its out-in-the-country ambience, the vibe is "miles from nowhere." We're talking serious privacy for your Wedding!

On April 11th, Orfila is staging a Bridal Show where Brides can meet Wedding vendors ready, willing and able to provide everything necessary to create the Wedding of their dreams. View the work of photographers, taste the delights of cake designers, sample the creations of caterers, view linen samples and stop to smell the roses you'll carry as you walk down the aisle on your Special Day.

[CAKE Note: Brides, when you meet with the Winery's Wedding coordinator to finalize the food & drink details for your big day, be sure to include an ample selection of Orfila wines. The Winery's resident winemaker, CAKE-pal, Don Reha's, to-die-for-wines will wow your guests not only for their refinement on the palate, but as well for your most-excellent talent for choosing superlative wines!].
