MUST (from the Latin, vinum mustum, “young wine”).
Freshly pressed grape juice containing the skins, seeds and stems of the fruit.
The first step in winemaking. This is wine with all its potential before it.

Talk about mixed emotions. It's with more than a second thought that  - after 4 years - we retire our dearly beloved CÁKE Wedding Newsletter. A once unthinkable state of affairs, putting CÁKE out to pasture admittedly leaves us confronting the 4 Stages of Loss: sorrow, denial, angst, acceptance. But taking a deep breath, we're teeing up a new wine blog in its place - MÚST Wine Country Newsletter.

Our raison d'être has always been to promote Wine Country, articulating the locale to as many potential visitors as possible. The more nouveau arrivés we can entice to drop-by for a visit, the more everyone toiling in the region benefits. But after expending much breath over the years discussing Weddings, we belatedly tripped over a teachable moment when we realized that, all things considered, the only group in the galaxy interested in Weddings are Brides. And therein lies the rub. Their interest lasts about a year and they then depart Wine Country to move on with their lives.

In view of this, we didn't want to be tone deaf to Temecula Valley wine lovers and foodistas, a straight and predictable current pursuing their passions over the course of a lifetime.

Don't get us wrong, Brides are near & dear to our hearts and by inclination and experience it's in our DNA to promote Wine Country Weddings. The growth in Brides wanting to be wed at Temecula Valley wineries is expanding at a break-brain pace, making a persuasive argument for our continuing to monitor this trend.

The Valley's wines, wineries and bistros are of the first order, offering oodles to write about, but reporting on them is seriously under-resourced, with the Valley's precious few wine scribes - including, Linda Kissam of Kissam ConsultingTom & Laura Plant of WINEormous wine blog, and Christine Dull of Neighbors Newspaper - countable on the fingers of one hand.

Wine Country, Inc. is staring at torrid growth in its near-future and MÚST anticipates-with-glee participating by reeling in and sharing the Valley's stories with you. Tune in, turn on, take pleasure!
